Frequently Asked Questions

  • As our wedding is local for the majority of our guests, we have chosen not to reserve a formal hotel block. We invite you to choose the accommodations that best suit your needs and style.

Important Travel Alert: Please note that our wedding coincides with Georgetown University’s graduation. To secure the best rates and ensure availability, we advise booking a hotel room (if needed) as soon as possible.

Where are the Bride & Groom staying? We will be getting ready and staying at The Hay-Adams, which is near The White House.

A Bit of History: Designed in the 1920s in the Italian Renaissance style, this historic hotel sits on the former sites of John Hay's and Henry Adams' mansion homes. Since opening its doors, it has been a favorite D.C. hideaway for cultural icons like aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart, theater legend Ethel Barrymore, and celebrated poet Maya Angelou.

Booking Note: The hotel website currently lists a 3-night minimum stay. If you would like to stay here for fewer nights, please call the hotel directly and mention you are attending a wedding to bypass this requirement.

    Other Recommendations:

    • The Royal Sonesta Dupont Circle: Located just around the corner from our venue (Anderson House). Perfect for guests who prioritize convenience and want to be within walking distance!

    • Lyle Washington DC: A stylish Art Deco boutique hotel located in the heart of Dupont Circle. Quiet, comfortable, and just a short walk to the venue.

    • American Guest House: A top-rated Bed & Breakfast located in the historic Kalorama neighborhood. Ideal for guests who want a cozy, home-away-from-home experience with a delicious homemade breakfast included.

  • The dress code for our wedding is Black-Tie Optional.

We invite our guests to dress for an elegant evening. Tuxedos are welcome, though not required; a dark, well-tailored suit with a dress shirt and tie is equally appropriate.

For women, attire may include a floor-length gown, a refined midi dress, or an elevated cocktail dress. Chic pantsuits are also welcome.

We encourage guests to embrace a polished, timeless aesthetic that complements the formal setting while feeling comfortable and celebratory.

  • We can’t wait for you to see it! The Larz Anderson House is a Gilded Age masterpiece completed in 1905. Originally the winter home of American diplomat Larz Anderson and his wife Isabel, it was designed to feel like a "Florentine villa in the midst of American independence."

Stepping inside feels like being transported to Europe without ever leaving D.C. The mansion immerses you in Old World luxury, showcasing intricate French architecture and rare treasures like 16th-century church choir stalls imported directly from Italy. The grandeur extends from the soaring, ornate ballroom out to the private walled garden, where a serene reflecting pool completes the feeling of being transported to another time and place.

  • We invite guests to arrive starting at 5:30 PM. The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:00 PM, so please ensure you are seated by then.

Important Note: The venue will not open its doors prior to 5:30 PM, so please plan your arrival accordingly to avoid waiting outside. Additionally, this is Georgetown University’s graduation weekend, so traffic in D.C. will be heavier than usual. We highly recommend checking navigation apps and allotting extra time for travel.

  • While the Anderson House does not have its own parking facilities, we are pleased to provide complimentary valet service for all guests. Simply pull up to the venue entrance, and the valet team will take care of the rest.

  • As much as we would love to include everyone, our wedding will be an intimate celebration. We are unable to accommodate plus-ones unless they are specifically named on your invitation envelope. Thank you for understanding!

  • We have decided to keep our wedding and reception an adults-only event, with the exception of the children in our wedding party. We hope this advance notice means you are still able to share our big day.

  • We invite you to be fully present with us during our ceremony. We kindly ask that you turn off all cell phones and cameras and enjoy this special moment unplugged. We have hired an amazing team of professionals to capture every detail, and we promise to share those images and videos with you!

Once the ceremony concludes, you are more than welcome to take as many photos as you like during the cocktail hour and reception.

  • We will be serving a five-course dinner with a pre-selected entrée. When you RSVP, you will be asked to select your main course and list any specific dietary restrictions or allergies. Please be assured that our culinary team will tailor every course of your meal to accommodate your needs.

  • We have curated a specific beverage menu to complement the evening’s culinary experience and share some of our favorite flavors with you.

Cocktail Hour: We are delighted to offer a custom Prosecco Bar, where guests can personalize their bubbly with a variety of syrups and garnishes. We will also be serving beer and signature "His & Hers" cocktails (details to come!).

Dinner: During the five-course meal, guests will be served wine pairings carefully selected to enhance each specific course. Due to restrictions at Anderson House this will not include red wine.

Please note: While we will not have a standard open bar, we have put great thought into providing sophisticated, delicious options for our guests to enjoy.

  • Our vision for the evening is an intimate, elegant dinner party focused on great food and conversation. As the Anderson House is a historic museum, we have opted for a reception without a DJ or a formal dance floor (with the exception of the Bride & Groom’s first dance).

However, there will certainly be music! We have hired a string quartet to play throughout the evening. They will be performing a mix of classical pieces and contemporary favorites from artists like The Beatles, Queen, Beyoncé, and Lady Gaga.
